The Leatherman Wingman is similar to the Leatherman flagship model and is more like a little brother to the Wave than the Suspension is to the Center Drive. With the pocket clip removed, it’s the most comfortable multi tool that I’ve ever held in the closed position (aside from, perhaps, the Bond and the PST). This rule has been put in place to reduce spam from new accounts. It’s like a Leatherman Sidekick/Wingman that grew out of its teenaged gimmicks (like the funky shape, tiny files and rulers) and went to college to become a professional multi tool. People are passionate about their tools and they don't want to be told there stupid for carrying them. Thus, the Rev features one less outside opening tool compared to the Wingman and Sidekick. The Sidekick exchanges the scissors for a saw, and instead of the small package opener, you get a serrated knife plus the carabiner of course. That doesn't mean you can't challenge people with questions but do it in a polite manner. The Wingman features the same tools as the Rev with the exception of an added pair of scissors. You can buy a pocket clip for the Wave for a few dollars. Since I seem to wear Philips bits out quicker than anything else on a multi-tool it adds some life to the tool also to be able to replace worn drivers. The bit changer on the Wave+ also lets you change driver bits adding more flexibility. The handle of the Wave+ are more longer and comfortable for sure. Its not a horrible tool but its also not the most comfortable if you have to really bear down on the pliers. The Wave is an ounce and a half heavier and doesn't come with a pocket clip AFAIK. Size and Weight Material and Design Available tools Leatherman Sidekick. Do you have experience with it? Are the grips uncomfortable? At first glance you’ll notice that it has a less symmetrical design than many other Leatherman products. It’s 3.8 in long and weighs 7 oz, putting it firmly in the full size category. I gave up on Gerber a few years ago.The Wingman.yes it's budget. Like the Leatherman Rev and Wingman the Sidekick was designed to be a Leatherman quality multi tool at a very affordable price. I have owned several Gerbers and dollar for dollar they have never held up as well or been as refined in the features they include. If you don't mind the weight a Surge will do even more but its a bit big for pocket carry. It's hard to beat the Wave+ for all around capability in a mulit-tool. Skeletool is my favorite EDC multi-tool but given the capabilities the OP mentioned I would go with a Wave+. The Wingman has always come across as a budget tool at best IMHO.
